DIY Macro for iPhone (Test)

It’s the middle of the night and I can’t sleep, so I tried my hand at making a homemade macro lens for my iPhone. I found an old disposable camera in my junk drawer and pried it open. After removing the outer casing and the battery (still mindful I could get a nasty shock from the electronics), I removed the small lens from the front of the camera. Then I used a few pieces of tape to secure it to my iPhone, making sure not to get any sticky tape on the lens.

I’m very happy with the results, though I didn’t take many shots of anything very interesting. I plan to explore this further, maybe see what I can find on my walk tomorrow.

For reference, pictured first is a small, perhaps 2 1/2 inch tall, figurine I keep on my bookcase. He is a Little Blue Poppet, created by artist Lisa Snellings. You can find some of her work for sale here on Etsy.
